'King's Speech' play to preem in U.K.

LONDON -- ''The King's Speech,'' the first play that inspired the Oscar-winning movie, can get its world stage premiere within the civilized world Finish in spring 2012 undertaking a U.K. tour. The play is put together by David Seidler, who won the most effective script Oscar for his screen version of his unproduced original. Produced by Playful Productions and Michael Alden Productions, the show is helmed by Adrian Noble, former a.d. in the Royal Shakespeare Company, and produced by Anthony Ward (''Enron,'' ''Mary Stuart''). The title role will probably be carried out by Charles Edwards (London and Gotham's ''The 39 Steps''), who recently starred opposite Eve Finest in ''Much Ado About Nothing'' at Shakespeare's Globe. Jonathan Hyde may have Lionel Logue. Despite the fact that six-week tour commences at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud theater on Feb. 1, a West Finish berth has not been nailed lower.
